I left school and trained as a Nursery Nurse before qualifying as a teacher in 2003. Over the years I have completed my National professional qualification for Senior Leadership and National qualification for Headship. I have worked in schools across Liverpool and I am currently the Headteacher of a wonderful school in Lancashire. I have taught hundreds of children during my career and hopefully influenced and inspired many more. I have always been very passionate about what I do. Making a positive and real difference to the lives of others is what drives and motivates me every day.
What led me to IAMTHECODE? Well, it was down to our shared ethos and values. Like IAMTHECODE, I believe in honesty, integrity, empathy, kindness and compassion but fundamentally I believe in investing in others. Being a role model to the next future leaders is something I am proud of and want to continue to do.
At iamtheCODE, they have the great fortune to be the first African-led Foundation, which is a unique model to enable one million women and girls to code by 2030. In 2023, iamtheCODE significantly impacted the lives of over 55,000 female learners globally through its coding initiatives in more than 80 countries. With the support of over 500 volunteers, the organisation successfully organised over 400 events. A huge milestone was the establishment of the iamtheCODE academy at the Kakuma Refugee Camp, the world’s first coding academy. This reflects IAMTHECODE’S commitment to inclusivity and education in challenging environments, reaching a total of 30,000+ individuals in the Kakuma camp to date.
In the UK, IAMTHECODE have supported school’s across Liverpool and are currently doing the same across Lancashire. The coding platform is free. It’s a powerful educational resource that can be used to upskill and provide access to the world of coding. The technological world is moving fast. IAMTHECODE is giving everyone the opportunity to be part of it which is something I am very proud to be part of.
